Maddy Kemp led the medal tally as Poole made their mark against many of Britain’s best young swimmers in the Plymouth Level One Open Meet at Millfield.
The 13-year-old came within half a second of qualifying for the Olympic trials as she won four medals and broke two club records.
Her medals were gold in the 13yrs 100m butterfly and freestyle and silver in the 100m breaststroke and 400m medley, while her heat time of 1:06.90 in the butterfly qualified her for the national age groups.
Alan Wong’s two national qualifying times came from gold-winning swims in the 13-14yrs 100 and 200m backstroke (1:04.67 and 2:18.48) and he also won silver in the 200m medley (2:23.74).
Jasmine Holmes’s scalps as she won the 11-12yrs 100 and 200m freestyle in 1:02.97 and 2:13.51 included Southport’s Holly Hibbott, who last month broke a national junior league record held since 2001 by Fran Halsall, now a European and Commonwealth Games champion.
Fiona Hardie set six national qualifying times on her way to silver in the women’s 400m medley (5:06.62) and bronze in the 100m butterfly (1:04.94) and 200m medley (2:24.20).
Harry Kemp, 11, won gold in the 11-12yrs 100m backstroke (1:13.52) and bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Emily Clarke took bronze in the 13yrs 200m backstroke (2:30.52) and 400m medley (5:30.40).
