Diving: Gleed siblings make a winning start


BROTHER and sister Timo and Elina Gleed achieved a family double when Poole-based Wessex Diving Club held their annual club championships at the Dolphin.

The duo – both competing for the first time – scored 40.95 and 44.00 points respectively to win the boys’ and girls’ beginners’ titles.

Ryan Dewey won a particularly close boys’ improvers’ competition in which only 0.70 points separated the first three.

Emily Shipley performed a good final dive to secure the women’s highboard title despite hitting her toe on the 5m platform during her second round dive.

Life memberships and engraved coasters were presented to three members who have each been involved form more than 30 years – Ron Nicholls, who was a founder member 34 years ago, Peter Morris, who is still coaching today, and Ray Clarke.

Results – Girls. Beginners: Elina Gleed 44.00 points, 2 Megan Stephen 40.80, 3 Louise Harley 40.65, 4 Abi Bedford 37.15, 5 Caitlin Hodges 35.50.

Improvers: 1 Sian Davies 52.00, 2 Alex Dawes 41.50, 3 Lauren Dawes 40.00, 4 Georgia Stephen 39.15, 5 Helen Lawrence 38.50, 6 Chloe Webber 38.00, 7 Renata Feilla 37.10, 8 Daisy Seymour 36.50.

14/u: 1 Kathryn Lawrence 78.30, 2 Lucy Mathiot 77.10, 3 Sophie Webber 69.65.

Ladies’ springboard: 1 Laura Dann 121.15, 2 Kathryn Lawrence 103.70, 3 Emily Shipley 90.90.

Ladies’ highboard: 1 Emily Shipley 85.30.

Boys. Beginners: 1 Timo Gleed 40.95, 2 Sam Rosewarn 34.15, 3 Dan Bedford 33.60, 4 James Scott 33.10, 5 Oliver Scott 32.40, 6 Ethan Ashby 31.40.
