JAZZ McCrea broke her own Dorset junior record as she and Madison Kemp led a bumper 12-medal haul for Poole at the Plymouth Open Meet.

The in-form McCrea knocked 0.22 seconds off the long-course record with a time of 28.61 to take the silver medal in the 15yrs 50m butterfly.

The time also took her into the senior final, where she again won silver in 28.80.

These podium finishes were among one gold, five silver and one bronze medal for McCrea, who has now qualified for four events at the British Summer Championships – three more than last year.

Her gold medal success at Plymouth came in the 15yrs 100m butterfly in 1:05.13.

She also won silver in the 15yrs 200m breaststroke (2:46.13), the 200m individual medley (2:27.39) and the senior IM final (2:26.30) as well as securing an impressive bronze in the 15yrs 100m breaststroke (1:18.56).

Team-mate Madison Kemp struck gold twice as she improved her lifetime best times in both the age group heat and senior final of the 100m butterfly – her first personal bests in this event for two years.

Her times of 1:03.94 and 1:03.60 also took her into the top 10 18-year-olds in the country and qualified her for this event at the British Championships.

She also won silver in the age group 50m butterfly in 28.95 and bronze in the senior final (29.11).

Jasmine Holmes and Thea O’Keefe joined the Poole medal spree.

Holmes won silver in the 17yrs 100m freestyle in 58.52 and bronze in the senior 200m freestyle final in 2:06.65.

O’Keefe’s time of 9:26.63 won her a bronze medal in the 16yrs 800m freestyle.

Subject to confirmation on rankings, Poole now expect to have no fewer than six swimmers heading to the British summer nationals – McCrea, Kemp, Holmes, O’Keefe, Jacob Peters and Emily Clarke.

Luke Roxburgh and Jess Kelleway are expected to be heading for the English summer nationals while Clarke, Kelleway, Liam Openshaw and Teagan-Mae Graham have qualified for the open water nationals.

Meanwhile, three Swim Bournemouth youngsters made the podium at the Cardiff International Open Meet, where opponents came from many leading clubs across South Wales and southern England.

Oli Fairman won bronze in the 13yrs 400m individual medley and bronze in the 100m backstroke (1:08.55).

In the same age group for girls, Issy Hepburn won silver in the 200m breaststroke in 2:54.53.

Henry Stanbrook recorded a personal best time of 1:02.23 to claim bronze in the 15-16yrs 100m backstroke.

He also made the 50m backstroke final (28.69).

Abby Manns reached the 14yrs 100 and 200m breaststroke finals (1:18.28 and 2:49.85).
