JUST one point separated Swim Bournemouth’s B team and Christchurch Seagulls as they came fourth and fifth in the National Arena League West’s Division One first round gala at Newport.

It is the first time Swim Bournemouth B have beaten an A team from one of the neighbouring clubs.

Their two wins came from Jack Simpkins in the men’s 100m breaststroke and the women’s 6x50m freestyle team of Abbie Axe-Browne, Megan Leaper, Charlotte Kerslake, Katy Hebditch, Lisa Du Toit and Rebecca Cummings.

Seagulls’ open men contributed four wins to their club’s 11 victories with Harry Thorpe taking the 100m butterfly in 1:00.81 and Darren Price the 100m freestyle in 53.96.

They were joined by Cianan Mann and Chris Wells to win the medley relay and those four in turn teamed up with Jack Thorpe and Martin Littlefair in the 6x50m freestyle.

Bethan O’Hara won the women’s 200m medley in 2:27.08 and Abbie Peckham the girls’ 13/u 100m butterfly (1:15.05).

The 11/u age group produced five wins – from Ashleigh Noble in the girls’ 50m backstroke, Ben Nealon and Miles Ward in the boys’ breaststroke and freestyle and the boys’ relay squad of Nealon, Ward, Alfie Gormley, Kai Weeks and Isaac Ellis.
