PIRATES have booked British ace Chris Harris as a last-gasp guest call-up for tonight’s Elite League grand final second leg.

Matt Ford confirmed the Coventry star had agreed to boost depleted Pirates after the Bees’ meeting at Belle Vue had been postponed.

Pirates chief Ford was forced into a re-think after Niels-Kristian Iversen, Poole’s original guest booking for number one Darcy Ward, was dramatically left stranded in Poland after his flight into Stansted today had been delayed.

That turn of events followed the huge setback Pirates suffered when Ward had been ruled out after sustaining a head injury in a fight outside a Dorset pub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

With Iversen out and a lack of other available riders due to Belle Vue's scheduled clashes with Wolverhampton and Coventry this evening, Swindon had looked like hot favourites to claim the title.

But with the late addition of Harris following the Belle Vue postponement, Pirates now appear to have more of a chance of overturning the seven-point deficit from the first leg.

The action starts at Wimborne Road from 7.30pm.
