CHRIS Holder will be aiming to secure a second successive Elite League Pairs title when he lines up for Pirates in this year’s championship at Ipswich next month.
The Aussie ace will be joined by Bjarne Pedersen in Poole Castle Cover colours at Foxhall on Saturday, September 4.
Holder and Hans Andersen lifted the trophy for the Dorset club at Eastbourne last year when they beat Eagles duo Davey Watt and Lewis Bridger 5-4 in the final.
Pedersen is also aiming to clinch his second pairs success, having partnered Jason Crump to glory for Pirates at King’s Lynn in 2007.
The full line up is Poole (Holder/Pedersen), Peterborough (Bjerre/Iversen), Belle Vue (Andersen/Karlsson), Eastbourne (Kling/Woodward), Wolves (Lindgren/Woffinden), Lakeside (Shields/J Davidsson), Coventry (Kasprzak/Harris), Swindon (Adams/Stead), Ipswich (Nicholls/King).
n Holder, who admitted to Pirates team manager Neil Middleditch he was “physically drained” during their 50-40 defeat at Wolves on Monday, lines up for Torun at home to Wroclaw in the Polish League play-offs tonight.
With Poole’s Leon Madsen also featuring for Wroclaw in the hastily rearranged clash, originally rained-off on Sunday, the Dorset club’s home challenge against Australia tonight has been called off.
Torun, well aware of their part in inadvertently forcing Pirates to cancel tonight’s meeting, have offered to visit Wimborne Road on Poole’s opening night in 2011.
