Chris Holder banged in an impressive 12-point return for Australia, but they were beaten for first place by Great Britain in event two of the World Team Cup at King’s Lynn tonight.

Holder’s Pirates team-mates Davey Watt and Darcy Ward got 11 and eight, respectively, on a night of high drama at the Norfolk Arena.

The Aussies amassed 48 points but were pipped for the one direct qualifying place for Saturday’s final at Vojens by Britain, who triumphed with 51.

Sweden joined the Aussies, Denmark and Russia in the race-off at Vojens on Thursday after finishing third tonight with 40.

Finland bowed out of the competition after ending up fourth with 14.

Britain, for whom Scott Nicholls top-scored with a scintillating 14 points and Chris Harris got 13, joined Poland in the final.

The top two from the race-off will also go into Saturday’s final at Vojens.
