DANIEL Davidsson has solved the mystery why he only took three rides for Pirates at home to Eastbourne.
The Swede's primary chain had become loose in his first outing and his mechanics were unable to fix it in time for him to line up in heat four.
So Davidsson, who had romped to race two victory on a night when Poole Castle Cover crushed Eagles 60-33, had to sit out his next outing.
Most people in a bumper 4,000 crowd were left in the dark by Davidsson's absence in his second scheduled ride, particularly as he is currently enjoying a rich vein of form at Wimborne Road.
There was no centre green announcement, but Davidsson, who had to make do with three rides, said: "When the mechanic tightened the chain it snapped the bolt.
"By then heat three was two laps through so there was no chance of us getting ready in time, and Freddie (Eriksson) had to go out instead of me.
"I ended up with five, but I think I could have got six, seven or eight again.
"It wasn't too bad a night for me though. It was a shame to miss that one, but at least the team won.
"We're still top of the league where we want to be."
