BOSS Matt Ford has promised Pirates "won't look too far ahead" as they aim to live up to the hype in the SGB Premiership.

The bookies' favourites to win this year's crown, Poole are on Wednesday set to launch their league campaign at home to Wolverhampton.

Pirates' racers are yet to turn a wheel after the 70th anniversary meeting was postponed due to wet weather, while Good Friday's Knockout Cup double header against Somerset suffered the same fate.

In between, the league trip to Wolverhampton was postponed as the Monmore club had rearranged their press and practice for that day, again due to the impact of the weather.

Ford told the club website: “It’s been a hugely frustrating start to the season and certainly not one I would have wished for given it’s our 70th anniversary.

"I know our supporters have been left just as frustrated but I’m hopeful the poor weather is now behind us so we can get our season under way.

“Once again the bookmakers have installed us as favourites to lift the Premiership title but we won’t look too far ahead.

"We’re welcoming a very good Wolves side to Wimborne Road and they are sure to provide a stern test.”

With the holidays in full swing, the first 300 young fans through the gates will receive a boxed Easter egg.

Supporters will also be able to purchase the commemorative 70th anniversary programme, complete with Wednesday's heat line-ups, for just £3.
