GRAND Prix star Matej Zagar has been added to the field for Poole's 70th anniversary meeting – and Peter Kildemand and Kenneth Bjerre will be joining him.

Pirates boss Matt Ford reeled in the big-name trio after quadruple world champion Greg Hancock had ruled out the booking due to commitments in Poland.

Ford said: "I’m over the moon to have secured the line-up we have, with just one place to fill."

Zagar, Kildemand and Bjerre do not have team places in Britain for the upcoming season and the Slovenian in particular is likely to prove a big attraction for punters.

A former world number five, Zagar has proved himself at speedway's top table having finished in the top eight of the Grand Prix series in four of the past five seasons.

Kildemand and Bjerre, whose involvement increases the number of Danish riders to seven, have both won on the world championship circuit.

Ford, who thanked Elite Fabrication for sponsoring the event, added: "Major road works are taking place on Wimborne Road so I would urge everyone to get to the stadium in plenty of time.

"Gates open at 5.30pm for a 7pm start and I would highly recommend using the Dolphin Centre car park.

"I cannot stress enough the impact that one lane closing on Wimborne Road will have on everyone, especially on such a prestigious night."
