BJARNE Pedersen is likely to make his final appearance at Wimborne Road when he turns out for Pirates' 70th anniversary meeting.

The legendary Dane is a three-time Elite League winner with Poole and is the second-highest points scorer in club history.

Pedersen will race in the curtain-raiser on Friday, March 23, where he will be joined by Niels-Kristian Iversen and 2018 Pirates Brady Kurtz and Josh Grajczonek.

Pirates boss Matt Ford told the Daily Echo: "It will probably be Bjarne's last appearance at Poole so it could be the last chance for fans to see him there.

"I believe he is winding down his track time so let's hope everyone gets along to see him."

Pedersen is also due to race in the Ben Fund Bonanza at Peterborough on Sunday, March 18.

The decision to recruit Iversen for Poole's season-opening meeting could prove attractive to spectators, given the former Grand Prix flier is yet to seal a return to Britain ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Kurtz heads into the meeting off the back of finishing second to Rohan Tungate in the Australian Senior Solo Championship.

Grajczonek, twice an Elite League winner in Pirates colours, will aim to reacquaint himself with a track he has always performed well on.
