CHRIS Holder and Jack Holder will not race together at Pirates next year after the latter signed for Somerset.

The brothers are Poole assets with 2012 world champion Chris yet to join a British club for the forthcoming season.

Pirates boss Matt Ford has three places left to fill in his septet and 17.89 points to play with. He hopes to confirm a fifth signing before Christmas.

Former Australian under-21 champion Jack had been set to join Somerset in 2015 but a revised starting average saw the move fall through.

He instead spent two seasons at Plymouth and made his top-flight bow with Pirates in the campaign just gone, doubling up with Peterborough.

Discussing the loan signing, Somerset team manager Garry May said: “It might be three seasons later than planned but we have finally got our man.

“Jack has made excellent progress since coming to these shores and has always shown a liking for riding at the Oaktree Arena.

"I am convinced he will prove a valuable addition to our septet.”

The 21-year-old and Richard Lawson are the Rebels' first two confirmed starters.

Jack joined Pirates on a full transfer from Plymouth in July last year, although Ford had made clear his intentions of doing a deal as early as 2013.
