BRADY Kurtz insisted he remained firmly in the race for World Under-21 Championship glory and said: "I'm not looking for bronze or silver."

The Pirates charger will be gunning for series leader Maksym Drabik in the third and final round of the series in Czech city Pardubice on Friday.

With a seven-point deficit to make up and Bartosz Smektala, Max Fricke and Robert Lambert also in the mix, Kurtz knows he faces a tough test.

But Kurtz, who had a poor opening round in Poznan before storming back with a third-place finish in Güstrow, feels he has it in him to seal the crown won twice by former Poole star Darcy Ward.

Kurtz, who scored eight points in the second leg of Poole's SGB Premiership play-off semi-final defeat by Swindon on Monday, told the Daily Echo: "The first round was only a couple of weeks after I had broken my ribs and I was pretty much no use to anybody and only scored six.

"But Güstrow is a track I really enjoy and I managed to go there and get 18, which was awesome, as I didn't think I'd be able to peg back that many points.

"I'm only seven down from the leader now. If I gained that many points in the second round, who knows what could happen in the last round?

"It's not over. I'm not looking for bronze or silver and I will go to Pardubice and win as many races as I can and hope the top guys don't."

Kurtz's Pirates team-mate Jack Holder is also due to race in the final round. Holder is tied seventh in the standings, some seven points adrift of Kurtz.
