MATT Ford hailed as "amazing" Jason Doyle's rise to prominence and said he would love to see the Swindon skipper – or Maciej Janowski – win the world title this year.

Aussie star Doyle finished third in Saturday's German Grand Prix in Teterow and now holds a 10-point lead at the top of the standings, with Patryk Dudek second and Janowski third.

Doyle and Janowski swapped clubs four years ago with the former becoming a full asset of the Robins, while the latter joined Poole on a full transfer.

And speaking ahead of the teams' play-off semi-final tie, Wimborne Road promoter Ford revealed he had nothing but admiration for Doyle's progress.

Ford told the Daily Echo: "He suffered dreadful injury setbacks at Poole for three or four years but I always felt he had more on him.

"A few years ago, he felt he would be better placed elsewhere and I thought Maciej Janowski had great talent so the two clubs swapped riders.

"Doyley's rapid progress has been amazing. He is now at the top of the tree in the Grand Prix and it would give me great pleasure to see him or Maciej become world champion this year."
