TIMO Lahti hopes to fulfil his British title dream with Poole – after being denied by the Dorset club six years ago.

The Finland-born Sweden international was part of the Eastbourne side which lost 98-85 to Pirates in the Elite League grand final in 2011.

That was Lahti's first year on these shores and he did not win any silverware during his other three seasons with the Eagles.

However, having signed for Poole as a replacement for injury victim Nicolai Klindt, the 25-year-old is hoping to finally break his duck.

Lahti told the Daily Echo: "I'm up for the challenge and I hope we win the British title as I haven't won one yet.

"Eastbourne reached the final in my first year over here but we lost to Poole.

"There are five or six teams with pretty similar points in the league table but I think we can make it. Everyone just has to step up a little bit. I know I can do it myself.

"I hope we can make the play-offs and that I can keep racing until October."

A five-time Finnish under-21 champion, Lahti won his solitary senior Finnish title in 2012.

He was recently selected for Sweden's Speedway World Cup long squad but did not make the final cut.
