PIRATES owner Matt Ford has pledged to "monitor the situation" and "look again at our options" after Nicolai Klindt was ruled out of tonight's trip to King's Lynn.

Klindt has been riding through a serious knee injury but has suffered a severe loss of form and scored just one point in last night's 49-44 home defeat to the Stars.

The Dane has been forced to concede he needs time out of the saddle – although it is understood he has not ruled out racing in Saturday's Speedway European Championship round at Güstrow.

Ford told the club website:  "He was determined to ride through the pain barrier, which was a brave thing to attempt.

"But he is at risk of making the problem even greater by continuing to battle on while so evidently unfit and in so much discomfort.

"We pulled him out of his final programmed ride (last night) as everyone could see he was struggling.

"We will now have to monitor the situation and look again at our options but for the meeting at King's Lynn we will operate rider replacement."

Jack Holder can take one of Klindt's rides, with the other three shared between reserves Paul Starke and James Shanes.

King's Lynn: Troy Batchelor, Thomas Jorgensen, Kai Huckenbeck, Robert Lambert, Chris Holder, Lewis Rose, Simon Lambert.

Pirates: Krzysztof Kasprzak, Jack Holder, Nicolai Klindt r/r, Richie Worrall, Hans Andersen, Paul Starke, James Shanes.
