FRUSTRATED Nicolai Klindt admitted plans to begin early his fitness drive had been left in the dust by his persistent hand injury.

Poole's recent recruit suffered a broken scaphoid towards the end of last season while practising in Denmark and went under the knife in October.

The Outrup-born flier last week came out of a cast and is due to wear a splint on his right hand for the next five weeks, with a scan inked in for early in the new year.

Klindt, who rode for Leicester in the season just gone, told the Daily Echo: "I was in really good shape this year and wanted to maintain that.

"Come December, I wanted to start early and be even fitter for next season but now those plans have gone to dust and I'm in no shape at all.

"I've just started running a bit and I can go on a spin bike. I've got some stability and core exercises I can do but that doesn't involve anything to do with my hand.

"I've been told not to put any weight on my hand or anything with it in the next five weeks so I can't really do any proper gym workouts.

"I will just have to work a bit harder and a bit more often when I am able to."
