DECORATED Pirates stalwart Chris Holder could be on his way to King's Lynn.

The Wimborne Road asset was ruled out of promoter Matt Ford's plans for next year due to his weighty 12.53 average.

And Ford subsequently granted the Stars permission to speak to fans' favourite Holder, who has contributed to five league titles in nine campaigns with Poole.

King's Lynn appear in the driving seat to seal the 29-year-old's signature as the Norfolk club have been the only SGB Premiership outfit to make an enquiry.

The Stars have stated they are close to announcing new signings, with only Nicklas Porsing and Kai Huckenbeck confirmed in the line-up so far.

Holder finished third in the top-flight averages this year and saw his 8.95 rating multiplied by 1.4 points under new regulations introduced by British speedway bosses.

The Sydneysider publicly bemoaned the changes, stating on Twitter that the new rules had done him "no favours".

He also tweeted: "It sucks they can jus change your average like that and put you out of a job that easily... cheers @SpeedwayGB."

Pirates have one rider left to name before their 2017 line-up is complete.

Ford has 8.03 points to play with having signed Krzysztof Kasprzak, Hans Andersen, Jack Holder, Nicolai Klindt, Kyle Newman and James Shanes.

Jack Holder is Chris's younger brother and is currently racing Down Under in preparation for the British season.

The 20-year-old recently finished third in the B final of the New South Wales Championship and plans to compete in further meetings, including the Australian Senior Solo Championship and the under-21 equivalent.
