VACLAV Milik will not ride for Pirates next season after the Czech star rejected promoter Matt Ford's overtures.

Ford had hoped the 23-year-old would return to the south coast having previously ridden for Poole in the 2014 campaign.

However, with a stacked schedule on his plate, including commitments in Poland, Sweden and his homeland, Milik has elected to give the newly-rebranded SGB Premiership the swerve.

Ford told the Daily Echo: "Sadly I have been knocked back by Vaclav Milik, who has decided it would be too much for him to do British racing having just taken on the Swedish league in addition to his other racing."

Milik was one of Ford's early targets for the new one-to-seven having playing a pivotal role two years ago as Pirates secured their second league title in as many seasons.

Known for his all-action style, club asset Milik has progressed rapidly and finished second only to Nicki Pedersen in this year's Speedway European Championship.

Wimborne Road chief Ford also revealed he had failed in the pursuit of a mystery Dane who had previously ridden in Britain.

Ford added: "I have also been knocked back by a Danish rider, who will not be able to return to these shores because many of the Danish fixtures are ridden on a Wednesday."
