BLOSSOMING Danish talent Frederik Jakobsen has issued a come-and-get-me plea to British speedway ahead of his impending Wimborne Road bow.

The 18-year-old prospect is due to race on UK shores for the first time tomorrow in Poole's season-ending Blue Riband, with the likes of Troy Batchelor, Chris Harris and Kacper Gomolski also booked to line up (7.30pm).

Jakobsen, still in full-time education in his homeland, has just completed his second year racing 500cc bikes but has already inked notable achievements on his burgeoning CV.

An unused member of his country's World Cup squad, Jakobsen top-scored for Denmark's youngsters as they finished third in the Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship final in August.

Later that month, the teenager again top-scored for Denmark to help his nation finish second in the Team Speedway Under-21 European Championship final.

Alongside a nine-point haul in the individual European Under-21 Championship final, Jakobsen also won the Golden Ribbon in Czech city Pardubice in mid-September – a meeting containing the likes of Adrian Cyfer, Joel Andersson and Eduard Krcmar.

The student rode for Fjelsted in Denmark's Super League this year and is keen to make the move to England after he completes his education in 2018, with Pirates chief Matt Ford set to keep a watchful eye on the promising charger tomorrow night.

Jakobsen told the Daily Echo: "The English speedway culture seems so cool and I want to go over there and experience it.

"I have a lot of friends who have ridden there this year and everyone says England is good for improving your racing style because it's tough.

"You have to fight for your spot in the team so you are always aggressive and you cannot relax. I think racing there can make you a much better rider so that would be another step in the right direction.

"I have one and a half years left in school and then I hope I can make it out somewhere."

Asked if he would like to ride for a club such as Poole, Jakobsen said: "It would be really cool."

The Danish flier secured his place in the Blue Riband thanks in part to his relationship with Pirates legend and countryman Bjarne Pedersen.

"When he asked me if I would like to ride I had no doubt I wanted to," added Jakobsen.

"There are some big names in the line-up and I am really looking forward to it because I really want to end my season well.

"To do it in such a competitive field would make me an even better speedway rider.

"If I can beat some of the big boys like Gomolski and Chris Harris, it would be really good.

"It would be fun to make a name for myself and let people see who I am. It will be a great opportunity for me."
