PIRATES star Chris Holder will be hoping to keep his nose in front when the third round of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series takes place in Denmark tonight.

Just 14 points separate the world’s top 14 ahead the Kjærgaard Danish GP in Horsens with Holder currently leading the way following the first two rounds.

Holder, the 2012 world champion, is just two points ahead of defending champion Tai Woffinden and ex-Pirates star Greg Hancock.

Aussie ace Holder finished third behind Peter Kildemand and Jason Doyle in this year’s curtain-raiser in Slovenia in April before taking fourth behind Woffinden, Hancock and Matej Zagar in Warsaw last month.

Holder, Woffinden, Hancock and Doyle are set to do battle in a star-studded heat 16 and the Pirates spearhead will be keen to make the inside gate pay off.

Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen will be one of Holder's rivals in race three, which also features Zagar and Piotr Pawlicki.

Woffinden will be keen to build on his victory in Warsaw, while fourth-placed Kildemand – winner of the season opener in Slovenia – will be out to repeat his epic victory at the CASA Arena in August, his first GP triumph.

World championship standings: 1 Chris Holder 26, 2 Tai Woffinden 24, 3 Greg Hancock 24, 4 Peter Kildemand 21, 5 Maciej Janowski 20, 6 Antonio Lindback 20, 7 Fredrik Lindgren 19, 8 Jason Doyle 18, 9 Matej Zagar 18, 10 Bartosz Zmarzlik 18, 11 Nicki Pedersen 14, 12 Andreas Jonsson 14, 13 Niels-Kristian Iversen 12, 14 Piotr Pawlicki 12, 15 Patryk Dudek 8, 16 Chris Harris 6, 17 Denis Stojs 1, 18 Nick Skorja 1.
