NOSTALGIC Hans Andersen is hoping to recreate fond memories when he lines up in the Speedway Grand Prix qualifying semi-final at Gorican tonight.

Pirates' experienced racer won the equivalent meeting at the Croatian venue two years ago and will again bid for a top-seven spot this time round.

Andersen and Poole team-mate Krzysztof Buczkowski – fit again following a shoulder injury – face a tricky field including Kenneth Bjerre, Krzysztof Kasprzak and Piotr Pawlicki.

But Danish charger Andersen, who qualified for the European Championship in midweek, is in confident mood as he aims to seal a place in the Grand Prix Challenge at Vetlanda in September.

He told the Daily Echo: "I've had good meetings and bad meetings at Gorican but my most recent trip was good so I intend to keep that going.

"If I'm not good enough to be in the top seven then I'm not good enough to be in the GPs anyway, that's the way I look at it.

"I'm not taking anything for granted as every meeting is tough when you get to this stage. Every rider tends to ride a bit harder and put a bit more effort in.

"For me, it's just important to score points every race. I'm trying to tell myself that I don't have to win every race to qualify, I just have to avoid running any lasts."

Line-up: Kenneth Bjerre, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Peter Ljung, Kim Nilsson, Andzejs Lebedevs, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Hans Andersen, Piotr Pawlicki, Jozsef Tabaka, Timo Lahti, Jurica Pavlic, Kai Huckenbeck, Andriej Karpov, Vaclav Milik, Martin Vaculik, Sam Masters. Reserves: Anders Thomsen, Danny King.
