PIRATES team boss Neil Middleditch believes he is getting his message across to the in-form Krzysztof Buczkowski – despite only speaking ‘pidgin Polish’.

Buczkowski has made a fine start to life in Pirates colours, the 29-year-old racking up double-figure hauls in home clashes with Swindon and Lakeside in the Elite League.

The Pole also notched six points at the Hammers’ Purfleet base on Friday, a tight and technical circuit around which he is far from a renowned force.

The two-time World Under-21 Team Cup winner speaks limited English but Middleditch insists Buczkowski, on a season-long loan from Peterborough, already understands the ways of the Pirates.

Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “I think Krzys is enjoying himself. He sees we have a good team spirit going.

“It’s a bit awkward for him with the language barrier but we work our way through it.

“I’ve got a grasp of pidgin Polish so I can communicate a bit with him and I think he knows the way I operate.

“I know how to tell him to go very fast – that’s about it. A lot of the Polish I know, I couldn’t say!”

Pirates return to action when they host Coventry on Wednesday, April 20.
