DARCY Ward's benefit meeting in Poland on Monday (3pm, GMT) will be streamed live thanks to a new initiative from Poole Pirates skipper Davey Watt.

The likes of Greg Hancock, Martin Vaculik, Chris Holder, Maciej Janowski, Tai Woffinden and Watt will line up at Torun in a fundraiser for Aussie star Ward, whose crash in August last year has consigned him to a wheelchair.

Veteran Watt's long-term plans include broadcasting speedway on a pay-per-view basis to supporters across the globe through website Clayperview with Ward's meeting the inaugural effort.

Fans can watch the event for 7.99 euro, around £6, with funds set to boost the coffers of the Darcy Ward Foundation.

Watt told the Daily Echo: "All of us spend a lot of time coming up with new ideas for Darcy and it is one that dawned on me on one of my long drives home one night.

"It ties in with something else I have been planning for a while, I don't think it has been done in speedway before and if we can make the action more accessible, it can only be good for the fans.

"Friends of mine in Australia broadcast car racing so I had a talk with them and they loved the idea.

"My partner and I have put in a lot of hard work to get this off the ground over the past couple of months, it is a cheap way to watch the meeting and I am really happy to find a new way to help Darcy.

"The good thing about this is that everybody gains. Fans can watch a fantastic line-up at a great venue for little cost, it is great value for money and they get to help out Darcy too."
