CHRIS Holder heads into his home Speedway Grand Prix on the cusp of making the cut for next year’s series alongside fellow Poole Pirates charger Maciej Janowski.

The 2015 campaign finishes in Melbourne, Australia tomorrow (9am BST) with the title already decided and while the top eight – the positions which carry automatic qualification for 2016 – seem safe, Holder and Janowski could still need points to be sure.

Holder sits directly above the line with a 14-point cushion over Dane Peter Kildemand but the Aussie ace merely has his attention focused on putting on a good show on familiar territory.

Holder told speedwaygp.com: “I am pretty excited about it. It is an awesome stadium they have here and the track looks pretty good.

“It is good to be in your home country, it will be different for sure but hopefully, I can have a good one and give the crowd something to cheer about.”

Holder has been handed draw number 14, giving him two rides from gate two in the five qualifying heats.

Janowski, who leads Holder by two points, has two rides from gate three and goes head-to-head with his Pirates team-mate in heat six.
