MATT Ford insists the uncertainty over next season’s fast-track averages will not halt the construction of next season’s Poole Pirates team.

An increased limit of 40.5 will incorporate newly-calculated figures for reserve riders in 2016, meaning the Wimborne Road chief will not know exactly what he has to play with until November 3.

However, Ford hinted that his top five could begin to take shape before that as he attempts to mastermind a fourth straight Elite League crown.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “I am pretty comfortable with how things are looking at the moment, even if it takes a few weeks for us to be certain with where we’re going.

“From November 3, we will know exactly what we have to play with in terms of the top five but what I am determined to do is get one or two riders that I see as crucial to our development signed up in the meantime.”
