GREG Hancock is set to head a star-studded line-up at Poole Pirates to raise funds for the Darcy Ward Foundation next month.
Pirates captain Maciej Janowski’s select side will take on Team Monster on Wednesday, October 7 at Wimborne Road with Hancock and Bjarne Pedersen lined up alongside rising stars Jack Holder, brother of Poole favourite Chris, and Brady Kurtz.
Ward, 23, remains in hospital after sustaining spinal injuries while riding in Poland in August. An online fund has already surpassed £40,000 but with his complex private healthcare requirements costing close to £10,000 per week, friends and family are keen to keep the cash flowing in.
On the meeting, promoter Matt Ford said: “We will be announcing other riders in due course but with Maciej and Chris (Holder) locking horns as rival captains and the likes of Greg and Bjarne returning, I think this is going to be a very special night.
“It will be our last meeting in what has, mentally, proved to be a very tough season. I would appeal to all fans to turn out in force and make this a memorable night.”
Ford was speaking to the Pirates website.
