POOLE Pirates chief Matt Ford has ended the long-running saga over the make-up of his team by ruling out any unenforced changes.

The Wimborne Road promoter last month publicised the possibility of making a tweak to his top five on the back of erratic away form.

Matters came to a head when Pirates relinquished a 12-point lead to lose at Wolverhampton, a setback which handed Coventry the initiative in the race for the Elite League’s coveted for top spot.

Ford remained tight-lipped on the identity of potential incomings or outgoings while social media and fans’ forums spewed out a flurry of speculation as to who could be involved.

From the outset, Ford was adamant he would take time to assess his side’s credentials while the play-off picture took shape.

And now, on the back of four empahtic home victories and last night's four-point haul at Lakeside, Ford has exclusively revealed to the Daily Echo that his mind is made up.

“The way the team has responded to me thinking about making team changes has been excellent,” he said.

“Barring any unforeseen injuries over the next week, I feel we are capable of going into the play-offs with the team we currently have.

“All being well, and on the understanding Maciej’s problem isn’t long-term, we will keep the same one-to-seven.”
