POOLE Pirates fans could catch a first glimpse of Aussie starlets Brady Kurtz and Jack Holder with promoter Matt Ford announcing provisional plans to resurrect the Blue Riband.

Ford is keen to plug the gap in Poole’s calendar on Wednesday, August 26 and has set about staging the club’s prestigious individual event.

The Wimborne Road chief openly declared his interest in Somerset Rebels number one Kurtz earlier this season and has previously lauded the talent of Holder – the younger brother of Pirates talisman Chris.

Ford confirmed his intent to give the entire Poole one-to-seven a run out and that Kurtz, Holder junior, Grand Prix star Jason Doyle and Josh Grajczonek had all “expressed an interest” in racing.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “We will be racing on August 26 and provided we don’t have any meetings rained off in the meantime, we plan to stage the Blue Riband.

“I don’t see any sense in not having a meeting in August when Pirates fans want to see racing on a regular basis.

“I am now beginning to assess which riders are available but more importantly, it is about the current Pirates team being in continued action..

“We need them all to be fit and ready to go for the play-offs so if we do run, the field will, in some shape or form, include the Pirates septet.”

Poole last staged the Blue Riband in 2013 when Darcy Ward claimed the crown.
