PODIUM-chaser Chris Holder believes set-ups are becoming increasingly crucial for riders in the world championship.

Holder is keen to continue his recent resurgence in tonight’s Swedish Grand Prix at the G&B Arena (6pm BST), the home of Elitserien outfit Dackarna.

And the Pirates number one, who won the world title in 2012, has underlined the heightened importance of behind-the-scenes work in series success.

He told the Daily Echo: “Every year the GPs are really tough and it only seems to get harder because bikes are changing all the time and a lot is coming down to the bike that you’re on.

“You need it to be working everywhere and it takes patience and practice to know exactly how your bike is working and what you need to change to get it going.

“You can go out and win a race by half a straight and then run a last by half a straight. It’s really frustrating because it’s hard to get it right every time.

“It needs to be on the money so we need to get that consistent.

“When I won in 2012, the bike was working everywhere, which we haven’t quite had since and I’ve had a few injuries as well.

“But after the GP in Cardiff there was light at the end of the tunnel and I just want to keep that going now.”
