POOLE Pirates boss Neil Middleditch would be happy to attack the Elite League play-offs with his current one-to-seven – provided they perform consistently.

Middleditch watched his under-fire troops bounce back from their late mauling at Wolves on Monday to tame the same beasts 60-33 on Wednesday.

Promoter Matt Ford has intimated a team change could be on the cards but Pirates’ man in the pits reckons his troops have what it takes to lift the club’s third straight British crown.

Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “We have proved time and time again that when we ride as a unit, we are a very dangerous side and I am happy with the seven. We made that decision when the whole Darcy (Ward) thing came about and elected not to change it when we were going well.

“When we perform, we’re very good but when we don’t, we become a very average team and at this stage of the game you cannot afford that inconsistency.

“Monday was unacceptable. I said to the boys before the home match that we would not win the league performing like that.

“I wanted everybody to show what they were made of. Dak (North) and Kacper (Gomolski) have been a bit inconsistent so I wanted them to have a good meeting.”
