PROMOTER Matt Ford revealed how this week’s reduced admission at Poole Pirates had been prompted by the stop-start nature of the club’s home campaign.
Speedway fans can get their fix for just £10 tomorrow when Pirates go head-to-head with Elite League title rivals King’s Lynn (7.30pm) in a televised showdown in which Ford hopes to showcase the club’s large supporter base.
Ford told the Daily Echo: “We feel it is a good time to give people that incentive to come and really show off the club and the town in front of the Sky cameras.
“With fewer teams in the league this season, the speedway public is out of sync with riding as much as we are. Our sport has been built on having weekly fixtures' with everyone used to having Wednesday as their speedway night.
"At the moment, I almost feel like a part-time promoter because there are so few meetings but luckily, we have a busier period ahead so we hope this will be the perfect way to re-introduce people and remind everyone we’re here.
“I hope plenty of people take advantage, come along and enjoy a really competitive meeting between two top teams.
"It takes us back to the price we charged back in 1999 in my first year here and a bumper crowd could make all the difference to the boys on the track."
