BRUISED charger Kyle Newman says he is ready for a return to action for Poole Pirates after emerging unscathed from his Premier League return.

The 23-year-old last week discovered shooting pains in his arm had been caused by an infection rather than any structural damage but was still rested for Poole’s Elite League victory at Lakeside on Friday.

Newman, however, did return to the shale 24 hours later as number one for Plymouth Devils, scoring five paid six in their 52-40 setback at Workington Comets.

Since then, Newman has continued his recuperation following three serious falls with Plymouth, Poole and at the Grand Prix qualifier in Gorican, Croatia, during the past month.

Discussing his comeback, Newman told the Daily Echo: “Everything felt pretty good on Saturday and it is just a matter of regaining full fitness and pushing on now.

“This week I had a massage on my back to loosen that up because I have had a fair few crashes lately.

“While most of the problems have been restricted to my arm, my body has generally taken a bit of knock from it all. I need to get back to square one, start again and keep things going. Hopefully, I won’t have any more crashes!”

Newman is currently second on the list of fast track riders with an average of 7.87 behind Coventry’s Jason Garrity (8.19).
