JOSH Grajczonek revealed how the lure of the top flight and a busy schedule had made his return to Poole Pirates an easy decision.

The 25-year-old, a two-time league winner with Pirates, has rejoined the Wimborne Road outfit as a temporary replacement for the sidelined Davey Watt.

Watt suffered a broken left foot and damaged ankle ligaments in a pairs meeting at his Polish club, Krakow, on Sunday.

Poole estimated that Watt would be out for four to six weeks and promoter Matt Ford moved quickly to replace the experienced charger.

And Somerset's Grajczonek is relishing the chance to ride in the Elite League once more having played a key role in Pirates' title triumph of 2014.

He told the Daily Echo: "I want to be doubling up and riding as much as possible so I couldn't really turn down the opportunity.

"Matt told me he was the first one he had called, so that was a good showing from him.

"You don't want to be racing in the Premier League for your whole career, you want to be in the Elite League.

"There's nothing like being on your bike pretty much every day of the week. When you're not riding you are sitting around doing nothing but when you are, you are constantly gaining knowledge.

"That's what I want to do. I'm still young and I want to keep progressing.

"If I can be at Poole and have a good time for a month or so then, hopefully, something else will pop up."

Grajczonek, who scored 12 paid 14 for Somerset against Poole in a challenge match on Friday, missed the Elite League play-offs last season after breaking his collarbone in the Premier League Riders' Challenge.

He had previously ridden in all but two of Poole's meetings in 2014.

Asked if he had felt that he had done enough to merit a place in Pirates' original team plans for this season, Grajczonek said: "You don't really think like that because it's Matt's choice who he puts in his team.

"Unfortunately, I wasn't part of the plans but I will take this opportunity and try and prove myself.

"Hopefully, when the month's done, I can get something done somewhere else."
