POOLE Pirates star Chris Holder suffered a wrist injury in last night's Elite Shield success at King's Lynn.

Neil Middleditch's side retained their Shield crown with a 96-85 aggregate win at the Norfolk Arena.

The Aussie star suffered a fall in heat one and although he attempted a second ride, had to pull up within a lap and a half.

Pirates chief Matt Ford told the club website: "He (Holder) is suffering from a dead wrist right now and that is a bit of a concern.

"Because he couldn't feel comfortable on the bike we had to pull him out of the meeting, unfortunately.

"We wish him all the best and, hopefully, it won't prove too serious."

Holder will miss tomorrow's Best Pairs Cup first round in Torun, Poland as a result of his injury.

However, he confirmed he would return for Good Friday's Elite League double-header with Swindon.

Holder tweeted: "I'm ok thanks, not riding pairs this wknd, be back Friday, thanks for ya messages."

Pirates travel to Somerset tonight for a one-off challenge meeting.
