THE wrist injury of Poole Pirates star Chris Holder has proved less serious than initially feared.

The 2012 world champion sustained damage during practice for the third round of the Australian Solo Speedway Championship at Undera yesterday.

It was the same wrist that Holder broke in a Danish Super League meeting in June last year, which was plated afterwards to aid recovery.

Initial fears were that the Ringwood-based charger had suffered a break but surgery in Melbourne revealed a more positive diagnosis.

The Sydneysider dislocated his wrist and damaged the plating within it but is only expected to be out for a couple of weeks.

Holder confirmed on twitter: "All fixed up. Was better than expected. Was just dislocated and bent the plate. Doc was happy with it all."

The 27-year-old will be unable to defend his Australian Championship title but is expected to attend the final round at Kurri Kurri on Saturday.
