POOLE Pirates star Darcy Ward has been handed a boost after BSI Speedway counteracted media reports over selection methods for the wild card for the 2015 Australian Grand Prix.

Reports Down Under suggested the wild card for the Melbourne event would be given to a non-GP rider ranked highest in January’s Australian championship.

However, a statement by rights holders BSI Speedway said: The 2015 Australian FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card will not be chosen until closer to the event.

“Contrary to unofficial information, it will not be handed to the highest-placed non-SGP rider in next month’s Australian Solo Speedway Championship.”

The news would appear to increase the chances of participation for Ward, who is not on the GP circuit full-time in 2015 and is suspended for his upcoming national championship.
