MACIEJ Janowski made a respectable cameo in the Grand Prix series as former Pirates team-mate Greg Hancock claimed a third world title in Torun.

Polish wild card Janowski totalled seven points in the final GP of the year and therefore missed out on the semis by just a single point.

The high point of the night for the 23-year-old came in heat 12 when he flew out of the gate to win ahead of Troy Batchelor, Pawel Przedpelski and Tai Woffinden.

But it was Hancock that stole the show at the Marian Rose MotoArena as the popular American secured the gold medal once more.

The 44-year-old, who helped Pirates to Elite League glory last year, wrapped up another world title with a second-placed finish in heat 10.

That allowed the veteran to add a third global success to his CV following earlier triumphs in 1997 and 2011.

Pirates asset Krzysztof Kasprzak grabbed silver thanks to a 17-point haul and victory on the night, while Nicki Pedersen completed the rostrum places.

Ringwood-based Aussie Chris Holder, who featured for Poole early in 2014, scored seven points and secured his place in next year’s GP series.

Pirates’ Darcy Ward, suspended following the Latvian GP in August, was 14th overall.
