POOLE Pirates charger Maciej Janowski warmed up for the Elite League play-off semi-final first leg with a second-placed finish at the Elite League Riders' Championship at the Norfolk Arena tonight.

Pirates are due to take on King's Lynn at the same venue on Monday and Janowski showed his track knowledge at the circuit he once called home with an excellent evening's work.

After scoring 10 points in his five qualifying rides, the former Star finished second in the semi-final behind Troy Batchelor, with Bjarne Pedersen third and Hans Andersen fourth.

In the final, the 23-year-old trailed champion Batchelor and the Polish ace was followed in by Jason Doyle and Matej Zagar.

Janowski's place in the 2015 Grand Prix could be confirmed on Saturday, depending on how Zagar performs in the Scandinavian GP.
