STAR stand-in Edward Kennett followed up his rip-roaring guest appearance for Poole Pirates by issuing a come-and-get-me plea to promoter Matt Ford.

The 27-year-old, who collected the sponsor’s rider-of-the-night award after scoring 10+1 in last night’s 59-34 trouncing of Leicester, has been without an Elite League club since being dropped from Birmingham’s one-to-seven last month.

Kennett, a regular presence in Poole’s 2007 squad which made the play-offs, spent three years at Coventry before his controversial six-month ban in 2011 for riding with an illegal silencer.

The Great Britain international’s 2013 campaign fizzled out at Swindon before being axed by the Brummies just six races into the current season.

But on the back of a stellar show round Wimborne Road, Kennett believes his best is yet to come and said he would be ready to answer the call should injuries force Ford into a Pirates reshuffle.

“If an opportunity came up at Poole, I would jump at it," said Kennett.

“I have always loved riding here but haven’t got in over the past few years, possibly because of averages.

“My aim is to get back into the Elite League as quickly as I can and Poole is definitely up there as one of the places to be.

“I felt Birmingham could have given me a bit longer having dropped down to number four but I have to put that behind me now.

“On my day, I feel I am capable of getting a good bunch of points and I think I proved that against Leicester.

“At the moment, I need to just wait and see.

“I really want to get back in quickly but I’m also looking for the right move, a place where I can be happy in myself with a good bunch of lads round me.

“It was great racing with the likes of Darcy Ward and Poole would fit the bill if the chance came up.”

Kennett is unavailable for Poole’s Elite League trip to Brandon Stadium to meet Coventry tomorrow due to his Premier League commitments with Rye House.
