POOLE Pirates stars Chris Holder and Maciej Janowski endured disappointment as both failed to reach the semi-finals of the Finnish Grand Prix on Saturday.

Aussie Holder narrowly missed out with a five-ride haul of seven points while Janowski, who has struggled with a knee injury of late, could only muster two points.

Three-time world champion Nicki Pedersen grabbed his first Grand Prix win in three years courtesy of a gate-and-go victory in the grand final, with Brit Tai Woffinden, Andreas Jonsson and Jaroslaw Hampel following the Dane in.

Woffinden's silver-medal effort was particularly impressive given that he had partially dislocated his shoulder in heat 18, while Jonsson made the top three despite having just spent nearly a month on the sidelines.

Pedersen's success on a tricky track in Tampere enabled him to move into second in the world championship standings, while 2013 world champion Woffinden increased to three points his overall lead.
