LYMINGTON'S Ian Williams and GAC Pindar finished sixth as the second act of the Extreme Sailing Series was held in Muscat, Oman.

Williams, who last month became the first skipper to win the World Match Racing Tour title five times, had previously competed in the series in August 2013.

The Dorset star was co-skipper with Australia’s eight-time 18ft skiff world champion Seve Jarvin as they took on seven other boats over 29 races.

Williams said: "Sixth was an improvement on the last regatta and, hopefully, we can keep improving throughout the season.

"Oman has really put it on for us this week. We had some fantastic sailing with great wind conditions, starting off with 12 knots which dropped off over the week to eight to 10 knots."

The next act of the series will take place in Qingdao, China from April 30 until May 3.

The tour visits eight venues across the globe and 40-feet multihulls deliver stadium-style racing close to shore.
