ELLINGHAM & Ringwood secured an important bonus point win in Hampshire One against Ventnor but had to work hard in difficult conditions.
Centre Matt Raybould opened the scoring with a good try under the posts which was converted by Josh Butcher.
Dominic Pitt then scored a superb individual try which was again converted by Butcher to open a 14-0 lead.
Ventnor fought back well and scored a try but Ellingham lock forward Tim Linford crashed over for a try which was again converted by Butcher.
Ventnor came back strongly with a converted try to make it 21-12 at half-time.
The wet and muddy conditions in the second half made it difficult for both sides but Ellingham’s Dean Young scored a good try to secure the bonus point. Butcher kicked the conversion before Ventnor scored a further try late on.
