A LOSING bonus point was all Swanage & Wareham could muster as they fell to a 39-20 defeat at Marlborough in Southern Counties South.

Winger Will Slack and centre Rory Ferguson both touched down inside the opening 25 minutes to ensure the visitors were level at 10-10.

A further score in the opening period from second row Adam Dicker saw Swans record their third try.

But a constant flow of points from the Wiltshire outfit ensured they led 22-15 at the break.

Despite another Marlborough score early in the second half, Swans kept battling and got their reward on 63 minutes.

A penalty taken by scrum-half Stephen Woolley saw him dive over the try line to claim the bonus point.

That was all the Bestwall outfit could gain from the clash, however, as two further tries from the hosts late on gave them a comfortable 19-point win.

Swans have lost their past three league games and have picked up just one win all season.

They are 11th in the table, three points above bottom-placed Blandford.

Their next clash is at Bestwall against fifth-placed North Dorset on Saturday (2pm).

Meanwhile, Ben Russell's try double saw New Milton give London Three South West leaders Old Emmanuel a run for their money at Normans Way.

However, despite his exploits and those of Ryan Morrell, who added two conversions, Old Emmanuel maintained their unbeaten record with a 41-14 triumph.
