COACH Dan Draper was philosophical in defeat after Wimborne had suffered a narrow 12-10 reverse at Witney in South West One East.
The Minstermen surrendered the lead at Hailey Road when Witney winger Rhys Morgan evaded a couple of tackles to score the winning try in the second half.
Draper said: "We couldn't fault the guys for the effort they put in to the match but, for the second consecutive time, we came up short by a couple of points. We will take the bonus point and move on."
A much-changed Wimborne team took to the field with young full-back Max Tipping making his senior debut and Ben Hunt in at hooker for his first start for almost a year.
The visitors took the lead against the general run of play when Miles Corbin found himself in possession around the 22-metre line and ran with purpose to score just wide of the posts, with Tipping converting.
Witney restored parity seven minutes into the second half through a penalty try, although Wimborne soon regained the lead when Tipping held his nerve to send over a penalty after the hosts had infringed at a ruck.
However, Witney had the final say when Morgan profited, his score condemning Wimborne to a second successive 12-10 defeat.
Minstermen: Tipping, Warren, Brown, Mason, Mitchell, Maidment, Donnell, Cook, Corbin, Degeura, Foley, Hay, Davies, Hunt, Murphy. Replacements: Roberts, Galdes, Pride.
