BOURNEMOUTH boss Will Croker expects his charges not to take bottom side Hornets lightly at Chapel Gate on Saturday.

The Lions head coach has guided his troops to three straight league victories over Exmouth, Lydney and Ivybridge.

Hornets have won just once in South West Premier this season and are on a five-match losing run, conceding an average of nearly 40 points per game.

With his side having racked up more than 50 points last weekend, Croker trusts his players not to take their foot off the gas (2.30pm).

He told the Daily Echo: “I actually think Hornets are a really good team. It appears a couple of their coaches have gone to Weston-super-Mare, who are their local rivals.

“They have had quite a tough start and it will be an interesting job because we have a lot of guys back available. I think our guys are mature enough not to be complacent.

“We saw it last season when we lost games we maybe should have won. The guys know we have to be a lot more definitive in making sure that we get these things done.

“We have just got to keep ticking games off. We are six wins from nine now, so that’s a positive place to be.

“We have a couple of games which I would expect us to do well in and then we have got some tough tests.”

The Chapel Gate side have suffered two of their three league defeats on their own patch this season, those losses coming against Newbury Blues and Dings Crusaders.

And Croker is keen to record a convincing victory in front of Lions' home fans.

“We said at the beginning of the season that if we can win our home games and pick up an average of two and a half points on the road, we will be there or thereabouts,” he added.

“If you look at our away performances this season, we have comfortably hit two and a half points. Now we have got to concentrate on being good at home.”

Lions full-back Grant Hancox brought up two considerable milestones for the club during the victory over Ivybridge.

His 16-point haul, which included five conversions and two penalties, saw him pass 600 points in all matches for the club.
