BOURNEMOUTH’S hopes of earning the play-off spot in National Three South West are all but over after they drew their second game in a row.

The Chapel Gate side drew 17-17 at basement side Bromsgrove, who Will Croker’s men had beaten soundly earlier in the season.

There was one change to the starting line-up, with Alex Everett-Bolter taking over from Dan Stewart on the right wing.

Bromsgrove took the lead with a converted try before Jack Hennings crossed the whitewash at the other end, Grant Hancox adding the extras.

But a penalty slotted between the posts gave the home side a 10-7 advantage.

Shortly after the break, Bournemouth regained the lead when Everett-Bolter charged free from broken play and had enough gas to score under the posts.

Hancox kicked the goal and the visitors were 14-10 in front.

A subsequent penalty from Hancox gave Lions a seven-point cushion but that did not prove enough in the final reckoning as a converted try midway through the half allowed Bromsgrove to level.

Bournemouth's afternoon was further soured when Charlie Levey suffered a head injury and play was held up for more than 10 minutes while he was treated.

Lions: Hancox, Everett-Bolter, Gleadowe, Chislett, W Roberts, A Davies, Hardcastle, M Davies, Richardson, Firetto, Treloar, Kenneally, Hennings, Manning, Rees. Replacements: Boyd, Levey, P Roberts.
