COLT Matt Raybould provided the only real positive for Ellingham & Ringwood as they suffered a 46-9 defeat against Hampshire One rivals Sandown & Shanklin.
Raybould turned in a man-of-the-match performance on his first XV debut.
Ellingham put in a strong first-half showing and were trailing 9-6 as half-time approached with scrum-half Josh Butcher having kicked two penalties.
At this point, the Islanders put in a speculative kick that bounced kindly for their wing to score under the posts. They added the conversion to give them a 16-6 lead at the break.
Unfortunately for the New Forest outfit, the second half was one-sided with Sandown accumulating a further 30 points.
Ellingham’s reply was just one further penalty from Butcher.
