CHRIS Tomes was the hat-trick hero as high-fliers Swanage & Wareham claimed a 22-0 win at Walcot in Southern Counties South.

The teams were evenly matched in the opening exchanges but Swans missed the chance to go ahead when a penalty sailed wide.

However, the visitors led midway through the half thanks to three points from the boot of Phil Graves.

Both sides enjoyed decent spells before the interval but it was Swans who retained their slender lead.

The visitors got off to the best possible start when matters resumed, powering over following a catch-and-drive with scrum-half Tomes coming up with the ball.

Full-back Steve Woolley landed the conversion from close to the touchline.

Most of the rest of the game was spent in the Walcot half and just short of the hour, Swans crossed again.

Once again a catch-and-drive resulted in Tomes touching down, extending to 15 points Swans' advantage.

And with four minutes left, Tomes dummied his opposite number following a scrum, slipped through the defence and completed his treble. Graves converted.

Swans: Woolley, Parry, D Elford, Graves, Romanillos (Young, 40), Warren, Tomes, Sheldrake, R Elford, Wyburgh (Smith, 56), Audley, Andrews, Oliver, Ratuqalovi, Desmond.

Swans' second string edged out Bournemouth III 24-22 and Swans III lost 60-28 to New Milton III.
