KIRK Jones scored two tries as Swanage & Wareham triumphed 31-14 over North Dorset to ensure they would top Southern Counties South at Christmas.

Victory at Bestwall over their Dorset rivals saw Swans maintain a three-point lead over second-placed Wimborne.

Swans survived a couple of early penalty attempts before centre David Elford dummied his way past the defence to open the scoring close to the posts with Phil Graves adding the conversion.

Graves again converted after winger Alex Parry had sliced through the defence to touch down before a converted try reduced the arrears to 14-7.

Number eight Jones got in on the act to go over on the stroke of half-time with Graves’s conversion making it 21-7.

Jones (pictured) went over for Swans’ bonus point try and his 11th of the season after 60 minutes before second row forward Dan Collins crashed over to extend their lead to 31-7.

With five minutes remaining, a North Dorset winger outflanked the Swans defence to run under the posts for a converted try which completed the scoring.
